Shoes can instantly update your existing outfits. They showcase your personality and can switch a look from formal to casual or vice versa. But if you are treating yourself to a new pair, which 2024 shoe trends should you choose? This article has all the 2024 shoe trends you need to know for spring 2024.
spring summer 2024 shoe trends
So many of the spring and summer 2024 shoe trends are great options for women over 40, and we’ve definitely featured lots of these styles before. So, you could already have some of these in your closet. Look and see what you already have, and what you might like to add to update your looks for this season.
Peep toes
Victoria Beckham – Isabel Marant – Versace
These shoes only work if you’re happy with how your toes look. But if you have had a pedicure and are ready for warmer weather, it’s a great way to add a bit of an edge to your looks. You can wear it with all of your dresses and skirts. We particularly love the shorter ankle boot styles with peep toes.
platforms
Gucci – Simone Rocha – Sacai
If you want to add a bit of height without wearing super high heels, then platforms are your friend. As you can see from the designer looks above, you can take whatever shoe style you most like to wear, and simply look out for a pair with a platform sole.
Tiny heels
Gucci – Prada – Carolina Herrera
Huge high heels can be very tricky to walk in. We always wonder how the Princess of Wales manages to walk in her super-high stilettos. But you can get the same look with a very low heel. And, as you can see from the designer looks above, micro heels are particularly on trend right now. Wear with anything from your favorite jeans to your dressier outfits. Choose a colorful pair to add a playful touch to your outfit.
mules
Alexander McQueen – Altuzarra –Victoria Beckham
Mules can be tricky to wear. They’re easy to slip on and off, but that can make them uncomfortable, as they can slip around as you walk. But mules are also flattering. They have a leg-lengthening effect because you can see all the way down to your heel, making your legs look longer. Just make sure your mules fit very well, and practice walking inside in them to ensure they are just the right size for you before you head out anywhere else.
2024 shoe trends – slouchy
Victoria Beckham – Marni – Jil Sander
Just as there were lots of ruches and plenty of cinching on clothes on the runways for spring 2024, there was also lots of slouchiness regarding footwear. Choose boots with a bit of a nonchalant slouch for an on-trend look. Slouchy boots are an excellent choice for transitional weather. Simply wear your summer dresses with ruched boots for spring. Then you can always switch to sandals as the weather warms up.
Ballet flats / flats
Simone Rocha – Chanel – Versace
We love it when comfort and style come together! Lots of designers opted for ballet flats for the spring 2024 season. Wear with your cropped pants and jeans to combine two trends in one outfit. If you want to be very on-trend, choose a pair of ballet flats that combine the look of Mary Janes, with a strap over the top.
Oxfords, brogues and loafers
Proenza Schouler – Burberry – Miu Miu
We love these looks! Take your inspiration from menswear and look for brogues, oxfords, and loafers. Wear them with your dresses, wide-leg pants, or jeans. What works brilliantly is combining menswear-inspired shoes with feminine dresses.
cage sandals
Want to get ready for the summer season? Then cage sandals are particularly on-trend. You can choose any heel height—either flats, the micro heels that we showed you above, or higher heels. Cage-style sandals are a great way to update your looks for summer.
Tassels and ties
Dries Van Noten – Burberry – Ferragamo
Fringing and tassels featured on many of the clothes on the designer runways for spring, and the trend continued to footwear. Tie sandals are a perfect way to show off your ankles if this is a part of your body that you like. They are perfect to wear with your dresses for summer events or to dress up your crop jeans.
snake print
Jil Sander – Burberry – Fendi
Snake print, together with leopard print, is one of those patterns that is never not on trend, but sometimes more on trend! Choose any style of shoe or boot in snakeprint and you will have nailed it for the 2024 shoe trends. You can combine a couple of trends by choosing slouchy boots or mules.
gold
Alexander McQueen – Schiaparelli – Balmain
Add a bit of bling to your shoes this spring. You can choose gold heels or just add a bit of extra glamour to your casual looks by choosing sneakers with gold embellishment.
Pointed flats
Stella McCartney – Gabriela Hearst – Marni
This season, we saw both round toes, on the ballet flats we showed you earlier, and pointed toes, so you can choose whichever you love best. Pointed flats are a great way to add the illusion of longer legs without wearing heels.
2024 shoe trends – flowers
Balmain – Carolina Herrera – Erdem
There were many florals on tops, dresses, and jeans on the runways, and the trend continued to shoes. Choose high heels or low kitten heels with a floral print, and keep the rest of your outfit simple, letting your shoes be the star of the show.
toe cap
Balmain – Miu Miu – Tory Burch
If you love a classic look, this spring shoe trend is for you. Chanel invented the iconic two-tone shoe back in 1957, so you can be sure this style isn’t going out of date anytime soon. For a modern take on the look, choose a see-thru style like the Tory Burch heels (above, right), or opt for square toes like at Balmain (above, left) for a different way to wear this look.
