Eva Chen’s Cold Beauty Met Gala Glam

Director of Fashion Partnerships at Instagram, Eva Chen, partnered with Celebrity Makeup Artist and Tatcha’s Global Director of Artistry and Education, Daniel Martin, for the 2024 Met Gala, using all Tatcha skincare products to create the perfect foundation for makeup application.

The inspiration behind Eva’s look was “Cold Beauty,” drawing from the winter garden design of Eva’s Robert Wu dress.

Eva and Daniel tied the winter garden theme through her beauty look by applying artificial snow on her eyelids and incorporating Tatcha’s newest launch, The Kissu Lip Tint SPF 25 in shade Midnight Lily to give Eva’s lips a gorgeous, and protected, burgundy hue.

Inspiration Behind The Look:
“Eva texted me last night to chat through initial thoughts for the beauty look. When she shared the winter garden design of the Robert Wun dress, we knew we had to play up the artificial snow element. We replicated the snow from the dress on Eva’s eyelids for drama and texture. It’s giving gothic Elsa!” said Daniel Martin.

GTL Breakdown:
PROCESS: To create the “Cold Beauty” look, Daniel first prepped the skin using The Texture Tonic to gently exfoliate and remove any dirt, debris and flakey skin. Next, to add hydration and additional moisture to Eva’s skin, he used The Essence layering on top with The Water Cream for a smooth, clarified complexion. To prime Eva’s skin and ensure the makeup stays in place, Daniel finished the skincare prep with The Liquid Silk Canvas.

Moving on to makeup, Daniel used the Camellia Gold Spun Lip Balm as a highlighter all over Eva’s face – while also hydrating the lips – for a beautiful gold glow to the high parts of her face. Before adding any powders to the skin, Daniel used the Aburatorigami Blotting Papers to cancel out any shine. After Daniel finished Eva’s makeup, he used The Serum Stick over the highlighter to add a more subtle radiance to her look and finished her lips using The Kissu Lip Tint SPF 25 in shade Midnight Lily.
